Trailhawks – Chasing Good Times
SMMB is the non-profit sponsor for the Trailhawks, a youth mountain bike team. Athletes of every ability are welcome to join the Trailhawks and Chase Good Times in the woods with us.
In the Fall the Trailhawks offer opportunities for athletes in 6th to 12th to compete in the Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League (MICL). Four races and an adventure ride are held at various locations throughout Maryland. MICL is NICA league. NICA’s mission is to build “strong minds, bodies, character, and communities through cycling, where every youth is empowered to be part of a thriving and engaged cycling community.”
In the Fall we compete as Three Notch Trailhawks.
In the Spring, the Trailhawks compete in the VAHS MTB Series. VAHS is a USA Cycling interscholastic mountain bike race series. VAHS offers competitive racing for riders of all ability levels. The series is open to ANY high school, middle school, or elementary school student. Athletes in 1st to 12th grade can race in VAHS.
In the Spring we compete as Southern Maryland Mountain Bikers (SMMB) Trailhawks.
Coaches
The #1 priority of our coaches is the safety and overall well-being of our athletes. Our coaches are certified annually to ensure we are using the best possible techniques to grow our athletes into better mountain bikers and people.
